PURPOSE:To obtain a spinel-based composition having high corrosion resistance showing excellent resistance to slag by adding a specific amount of magnesium titanate to grain boundary of periclase or spinel. CONSTITUTION:A spinel-based composition containing 0.5-8wt.% calculated as TiO2 component of magnesium titanate in grain boundary of periclase or spinel. When the content of TiO2 is <0.5wt.%, the amount of magnesium titanate formed in the grain boundary is deficient and improving effects on corrosion resistance is insufficient. On the contrary, when the amount exceeds 8wt.%, magnesium titanate is formed in the grain boundary to reinforce the grain boundary and excess TiO2 is diffused throughout the interior of SPC grains. In that case, fire resistance of the whole SPC is dropped and corrosion resistance of SPC particles themselves is reduced. Consequently a proper content of titania is limited to 0.5-8wt.%. |
