Traction control (ASR) in motor vehicles by means of the divided wheel

In order to prevent the vehicle from developing inadmissible slip on the drive wheels, both from a standing start and in acceleration whilst travelling, and swerving, a divided wheel is arranged between engine and final drive assembly, which wheel receives the excess drive power, and controlled by sensors and computers, by means of electric motors, which adjust the wheel segments in relation to one another, relays only as much power to the output side as is admissible, in order not to endanger propulsion. At the same time the intention is also to prevent swerving of the vehicle.
