<p>Treatment comprises administering orally, parenterally, locally or buccolly at least 5mg/kg body wt. of an alpha-(N-acylamino)-beta-mercaptoalkanoic acid, its salt, carboxamide or ester (where the alkanoic acid contains 3-11C acyl is aroyl of up to 8C, alkanoyl, carboxy alkanoyl, carboxyaminoalkanoyl, of up to 6C, carboxamido opt. N substd. by alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkenyl of up to 9C and opt. substd. by one or two OH, SH, COOH, COO-Alkyl or Alkenyl of up to 5C). Preferred comps. are N acetyl-penicilliamine and N-acetyl-cysteine.</p> |
