PURPOSE:To prevent printing character or type from being crushed, by a method wherein a type to be used is selected according to an inputted code, and an energy to be applied to a hammer is controlled corresponding to the sort of the selected type and a printing pitch specified by a specifying means. CONSTITUTION:With the input of a character code from a keyboard, the rotating direction and amount of a type wheel 20 is obtained from a data table 11 stored in a ROM of a control part 10 on the basis of a character code which was printed in a just preceding step. According to the obtained data a wheel motor 19 is rotated to move a type corresponding to the inputted character code and printing pitch to a printing position. Here, in the table 11 exciting times of a hammer 16 are stored correspondingly to printing pitches and the sorts of types. If a character to be printed is a type of small type area, such as comma and period, a group 1 is selected, and with the selection of an elite pitch an exciting time for the hammer 16 results in 10 msec. After that, a hammer solenoid 15 is excited for the determined time and impact of the hammer 16 is applied to the back face of the type to conduct printing. |
