PURPOSE:To permit exact positioning of an objective optical system and the image pickup part of a solid-state image pickup element by providing indices on the optical path surface of a light guide means for guiding the light from the objective optical system to the image pickup part of the solid-state image pickup element. CONSTITUTION:Assembling of a front end part 9 is first executed by fixing 1st and 2nd prisms 35, 36 by means such as adhering to a prism and element holding part 32 of a solid-state image pickup element housing member 31. Then, an operator positions the solid-state image pickup element 41 in such a manner that the image pickup part thereof is placed within the indices 50 while viewing the indices 50 formed on an exit face 36a of the 2nd prism 36 from an incident face 33 side; thereafter, the operator fixes the element to the solid-state image pickup element housing member 31 by means such as adhering. The member 31 and a front end part body 21 in which the objective optical system 28 is housed are then connected. The accurate positioning of the objective optical system 28 and the image pickup part of the solid-state image pickup element 41 is thus permitted by providing the indices 50 to the exit face 36a of the 2nd prism 36.
