PURPOSE:To suppress the settling of an objective lens by applying a tracking servo action after a multi-jump with the single side of a differential signal kept eliminated for a fixed period. CONSTITUTION:When a reproducing action is carried out, an objective lens 6 has a multi-jump action to move to a track B from a track A of an optical disk 1. In such a case, the lens 6 is energized in the direction opposite to the jumping direction by the force of a plate spring which holds the lens 6. At the same time, a clamp circuit 29 is actuated for a prescribed period of time under the control of a CPU23. Then only the negative ones of track difference signals are clamped by the circuit 29. Thus, the force of only the jumping direction is produced by a drive coil 4 and the force of the plate spring is reduced. As a result, the lens 6 can be immediately held on a tack of the jumping destination after the multi-jump action. Then, the settling of the lens 6 is suppressed and a stable tracking action is ensured.
