PURPOSE:To realize the input for symbol expression with no memorization of a complicated input operation by inputting symbols to a sub-input format as necessary. CONSTITUTION:The symbols and sub-input formats are selected by a symbol selecting means 2 and an sub-input format selecting means 3 respectively after a main input part 4 is started. Thus, the corresponding symbol data and format data are sent to a data input/display control means 6. The means 6 starts a sub-input part 7 when the input contents are equal to the format data. Then the data corresponding to the symbol or the format selected by a symbol selecting means 20 or a sub-input format selecting means 30 is sent to a data input/display control means 9. The means 9 displays the relevant symbol on a sub-input format when the input contents are equal to the symbol data. Then the means 9 receives an input end instruction from the means 20 produces a prescribed symbol expression via a symbol generating means 10 and transfers it to the means 6. The means 6 displays the received symbol expression on a main input format.
