The invention starts from a device for introducing gas into liquids having a rigid mount and an elastic sheet situated thereon having a multiplicity of fine slots for the outlet of gas, the gas flowing to the device via one or more orifices. In order to avoid, in the event of the elastic sheet being damaged, the undamaged sheets still being able to give off their gas in a sufficient manner, on the basis of the invention the said orifices are dimensioned to be so small that when a layer is defective, no more than about two to six times the nominal gas flow rate can escape via the device.
