PURPOSE:To obtain a toner heat fixing roller for a recorder provided with a thin and uniform fluororesin film which remains without peeling after long-term use by depositing the fluororesin film by an electrodeposition painting method on the film formed by chemical conversion on a mandrel made of an Al metal. CONSTITUTION:A roller mandrel made of Al or an Al alloy is subjected to a chemical conversion treatment as a surface treatment to form a film thereon. The treatment is accomplished by treating the surface of the mandrel with, for example, boiling water or steam or an aq. weak acidic or weak alkaline soln. at about the boiling temp. As a result, the hydrate oxide film is formed on the mandrel surface. It is particularly preferable to subject the mandrel to the chemical conversion treatment again after the chemical conversion treatment with the aq. weak alkaline soln. and rinsing. The chemical conversion film is formed in such a way on the surface of the mandrel and thereafter a fluororesin film is deposited on the film by an electrodeposition painting method.
