MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

摘要

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled medium which is low in noise and has good S/N and durability by providing a surface segregation layer of CrOx(X>=1.8) to columnar particles constituting a thin film magnetic recording layer consisting of Co-Cr-O. CONSTITUTION:A high-polymer film 1 is a PE naphthalate film and is formed to 10mum thickness. A diagonally vapor deposited film 2 consisting of Co-Cr-O and having 0.1mum thickness is provided thereon. The columnar particles thereof are of 360Angstrom in average and have the nonmagnetic high-concn. Cr-O segregation layer of about 70Angstrom on the surface thereof. The component ratio of Co:Cr:O =73:15:12 by atomic % ratio over the entire part. The 70Angstrom part of the surface segregation layer is x=2.2 in terms of CrOx. A vapor deposited film 3 consisting of a myristic acid and having 50Angstrom thickness is provided on the film 2. Since the medium is thereby made of the constitution contg. substantially no oxygen, the recording medium having both the good magnetic characteristics and crystallinity and good recording and reproducing sensitivity and resolving power is obtd.
