A hydrogen-producing material comprises an aluminum alloy consisting essentially of 5 to 50 % of tin and the balance being aluminum and inevitable impurities. The material may comprises a deposit composed of flat fine particles of the aluminum alloy, for example, a spray deposit formed on a base by thermal spraying with a wire of an aluminum alloy consisting essentially of 5 to 50 % of tin and the balance being aluminum and inevitable impurities.
