Low-reflection line termination for optical waveguide fibres

A low-reflection line termination for optical waveguide fibres is proposed, in which a glass disc (5) can be fitted onto the end of the optical waveguide fibre (3), which disc (5) bears at its output side an antireflection coating (6). The glass disc (5) has the same index of refraction as the optical fibre (3) so that a very low-reflection line termination is produced. For cleaning purposes, the glass disc (5) can be easily removed at any time. <IMAGE>
