PURPOSE:To easily and simply crush empty cans and to make a post treatment easy by providing a projecting part to deform the end of the empty cans in the stage of starting crushing to a pressing plate which is one side face in a cylindrical body housing the empty cans in the longitudinal direction thereof. CONSTITUTION:After the empty can 28 is thrown into the cylindrical body 26 from an aperture 26a thereof, a motor 34 is driven and a screw rod 18 is rotated by two sprockets 36, 20 to advance the pressing plate 30 until the front end of the empty can 28 is pressed to a pressing wall 26c. The pressing plate 30 is further advanced so that the rear of the empty can is first partially deformed by the projecting part (blade part 32). The empty can 28 is thereafter gradually crushed. A limit switch 42 operates to run the motor 34 backward and to retreat the pressing plate 30 when the pressing plate 30 crushes the empty can 28. The crushed empty can 28a is dropped and discharged from a discharge port 26d according to the retreat thereof.
