<p>A method for the dry treatment of a fabric 1 in which a fabric reciprocates between an inlet fabric stack 2 and an outlet fabric stack 8 through a duct 4. Currents of air of an appropriate temperature directed through the duct 4 determine the alternate movements of the fabric, the fabric is supplied gradually to the inlet pile and withdrawn gradually from the outlet pile. The apparatus for carrying out the method comprises chambers for the fabric stacks connected by a duct and a fan 12 and injectors for the air currents. The fabrics may be aged, creped, softened and shrunk; woollen fabrics may be felted, softened and dimensionally stabilised. <IMAGE></p> |
