The invention relates to a heat exchange part for pressurised cooling tubes which can be used in the cooling of flat or round stock in hot-rolling mills or in separate heat-treatment plants. The aim is to avoid distortion, variations in strength and defects during cooling, with a view to further processing. The object on which the invention is based is to vary the flow conditions and intensities of cooling in a heat exchange part of the pressurised-cooling tube for flat stock in such a way that uniform structural and material properties are achieved on the broad sides and the flat sides across the flat stock. According to the invention, the wide inner surfaces of the guide elements have a variable clear height over the length of the pressurised-cooling tube while the narrow inner surfaces of the guide elements have a constant clear width over the length of the pressurised-cooling tube. <IMAGE>
