PURPOSE:To obtain an Al alloy molding having a high density and high strength by subjecting Al alloy powder or flakes contg. Si at a specified ratio to hot hydrostatic compression molding by limiting the temp., time and pressure. CONSTITUTION:The powder or flakes of the Al alloy contg. 10-35% Si, and if necessary, 0.5-10% Cu, 0.3-6% Mg, 0.3-9% Mn, 0.3-0% Fe, 0.3-9% Ni, 0.01-9% Zr are prepd. Such Al alloy or flakes are subjected to the hot hydrostatic compression molding under the conditions of >=410 deg.C and <550 deg.C, >=5min time and >=200kgf/cm<2> pressure. The Al-Si alloy having the high density and high strength equiv. to the density and strength of an extruded product is obtd. by the above-mentioned method. The molding having intricate shapes is produced with the simple installation.
