PURPOSE:To improve the operability when the titled device is utilized for a language study by providing a pause time setting means setting the pause state when an interblock is reproduced and reproducing the next audio signal after a time in response to the reproducing time elapses. CONSTITUTION:A recording signal from a disk 11 for language study is read by a pickup 12. When the mode is set to the reproducing state, the connection of a selector switch S1 of a pause changeover circuit 20 is discriminated and when the switch is in the connection of b-c, it is discriminated as the automatic pause function ON to start the reproduction and the time count. When the interblock for a prescribed time or over is detected, the time count is stopped and the pause state for the counted time is set. Whether or not a stop switch is turned on is discriminated and when turned on, the operation is stopped. A microcomputer 19 stores the control program as above, and the pause state for the same time as the reproducing time before the detection of the interblock time is attained.
