PURPOSE:To obtain a high modulation reproduction signal without wave distortion by specifying the arrangement of a semiconductor laser and an information recording medium. CONSTITUTION:A laser flux 2 out of the semiconductor laser 1 is stopped on an information track 7 on the information recording medium 6 through a lens 3, a mirror deflecting device 4 and a stopping lens 5. At that time the joint surface of the laser 1 points a direction (x), and the laser 1 is arranged so that said direction (x) can be perpendicular to the direction y' of the track 7. In terms of a laser spot stopped on the track due to said arrangement, its oblong directions intersect orthogonally, whereby the laser spot evades from simultaneously lighting information pits on the track. Thus the high modulation reproduction video signal can be obtained with less waveform distortion.
