An electric shaver has a shaving head with a cutter support (5) over which a cutting film is stretched. This cutter support (5) is essentially composed of layers (8) which are arranged alongside and approximately parallel to one another. According to the invention, the layers (8) are provided with recesses (9) which are preferably arranged offset with respect to one another, are open at the edges and face the cutting film. The cutting film is stretched over these recesses in a non-engaging manner. The unhindered penetration of problem bristles which rest flat against the skin is also facilitated in the region of the recesses (9). <IMAGE>
