PURPOSE:To prevent the end face of each part to be connected from being damaged, to improve the reliability of connection and removal, and to stabilize the optical transmission characteristics of an optical transmission system, by connecting the end face of each part to be connected with each other of the optical transmission system with intervals between them so as to prevent direct contact of the core at the end face of each part with another. CONSTITUTION:A spacer 9 is put between the end face 3a of a core 6a fixed to a fiber-side plug 5a and the end face 2b of another core 6b of a three-core- side plug 5b so as to prevent the direct contact of the end faces 3a and 2b with each other and the end faces 3a and 2b from being damaged. The thickness of the spacer 9 is sufficient if it exceeds the projecting lengths of the two end faces which are between several mum and several tens of mum. It is desirable to make the thickness of the spacer 9 thinner and, actually, to set the thickness to 50-500mum when the workability, etc., of the spacer 9 is taken into consideration. The material for making the spacer can be inorganic, organic, or metallic and a fixing method or fitting method under a removal condition can be adopted when the spacer is inserted. |
