Chloro-alkali electrolytic cells or bank for electrolyte series flow is designed. These cells provides means for flowing anolyte and catholyte from cell-to-cell sequentially. Each cell comprises >=1 electrode pair sepd. by a cation perm-selective, substantially hydraulically impermeable membrane, with means for flowing catholyte or anolyte from cell-to-cell sequentially. The electrolytic cells can have a variety of electrodes, e.g. monopolar, bipolar, flat-plate or pocket. The number of cells in the bank or series is 3-7.
