PURPOSE:A lubricating composition having improved oxidation resistance, friction relaxing properties and solubility in mineral oil, containing a novel oil- soluble compound obtained by reducing molybdenum trioxide, etc., and reacting the resultant product with a phosphoric ester and a sulfur-containing compound. CONSTITUTION:The aimed lubricating composition comprising (A) an oil-soluble molybedenum compound obtained by reacting one or more compounds selected from molybedenum trioxide, molybdic acid and its alkali salt with a reducing agent and reacting the resultant compound with a mono- or diphosphoric ester (preferably 3-24C phosphoric diester) and (B) a sulfur-containing compound as essential constituent components. Compounds shown by the formulas I-IV (R1, R2 and R4 are 3-24C hydrocarbon; R3 is 7-24C hydrocarbon; X is S or O) etc., may be cited as the preferable example of the component B. EFFECT:Having improved corrosion properties of metals such as copper, iron, etc. |
