A disubstd. cyclopentadiene deriv. has the formula(I), where R1 and R2 are a C1-10 hydrocarbon gp., opt. with at least 1 oxygen bridge in a chain, or a furyl gp., or are linked to form a cyclo aliphatic hydrocarbon gp., or either R1 or R2 is H; R3,R4,R5 and R6 are H, CH3 or -C(R7)(=R8)(II), or R4 or R5 is R7-C(OH)R8-; of R3,R4,R5 and R6, not more than 1 is CH3, and 1 is (II), in which R7 and R8 are C1-10 hydrocarbon gps., opt with at least 1 oxygen bridge in a chain, or are linked to form a cycloaliphatic gp., or either R7 or R8 is H; when R'=R=CH3, R7 and/or R8 are different from RR1 and R2. Isomers and prepolymers of (I), and a compsn. contg. (a) (I), anisomer a prepolymer of (I), and (b) n acid catalyst are also claimed.
