GAS AND LIQUID PERMEABLE ELECTRODE MATERIAL

PURPOSE:To form an electrode material having excellent strength and high performance by adhering and uniting a liquid permeable film material formed by incorporating the powder of a conductive material into the micro-nodular parts of a porous film material and a porous conductive material having rigidity to one body. CONSTITUTION:Fine fibers 12 are formed like cobwebs among the micro-nodular parts 11 of the porous film material 1 consisting of a polytetrafluoroethylene resin. The powder 13 of the conductive material is incorporated into the parts 11 and is subjected to a compressing treatment to form the liquid permeable film material 11. The material 1 and the porous laminar body 2 having the rigidity higher than the rigidity of the material 1 and contg. the powder of the conductive material are superposed, then both materials are adhered and united to one body by pressurizing, heating etc. The resulted permeable material provides an excellent service life when applied to a diaphragm system between electrodes, an electrode to be used for an electrochemical cell system, etc.
