PURPOSE:To produce easily a magnetic pattern for magnetic recording with satisfactory magnetic characteristics by using a means which melts the toner put on a transfer material and a means which supplies the ferromagnetic powder onto the melted toner surface. CONSTITUTION:A carry guide 15 of a fixing unit 9 has a heating means 26 and heats a transfer material from its back to melt a toner 24. For instance, the ferromagnetic powder of magtite or ferrite, etc. is attached on the surface of a nonmagnetic inner rotary barrel 12 containing a magnet 13 and carried to a position close to a transfer material 16. When an alternating current is flowed to an electromagnet 17, the ferromagnetic powder has vibrations in an area A by an alternating magnetic field. Thus the powder 11 sticks to the area A. Thus the powder 11 sticks only to a certain area of the toner 24 and therefore a pattern of ferromagnetic powder is formed on the material 16 in accordance with pictures. Thus a magnetic pattern for magnetic recording can be produced easily and quickly.
