PURPOSE:To make it possible to read out sequentially the signal of every column in order within one frame-time by adding a simple change to the construction of a charge injection element. CONSTITUTION:A shift register SR 1 specifies selective lines ER 1-ER M and a shift register SR 2 specifies preserving lines ES 1-ES N. Every picture element, #1 etc. has the first and the second storage electrode ER and ES and read-out electrode EC. The electrode ES is connected to every preserving line and these saving lines are selected by the SR 2 to impress a non-selective pulse phiES1.... This action, in every picture element that is related to the read-out line, annihilates a potential well corresponding to the electrodes ER and ES and transfers a signal charge to the potential well corresponding to the read-out electrodes, but in every picture element that is related to a non-selective read-out line the signal charge is saved and preserved in the potential well under the electrodes ES. Therefore, it is possible to read out sequentially every picture element and every read-out line.
