PURPOSE:To enable to easily obtain a high output by a method wherein the discharge electrode is constituted of at least a sintered alloy consisting of Cu and W, CONSTITUTION:The discharge electrode of the gas laser, which makes laser medium, gas discharge-excite and performs a laser oscillation, is constituted of a sintered alloy of Cu and W. According to this electrode, the current for laser oscillation chiefly is one to generate from the Cu and electrons are micro scopically emitted from the Cu parts among the gaps in the W. The composition of the sintered alloy is made to contain Cu of 30%+ or -10% and W of 70%+ or -10% in mass ratio. The current flows out of the Cu particles only and as the dis charge electrode is an alloy, the W particles do not allow the physical concentra tion of the discharge site to generate interposing properly in the discharge electrode, and moreover, the W particles make generating heat disperse and suppress it for plasma to contract on the surface of the electrode. |
