PURPOSE:To provide a freeze-preventing agent containing an antifreezing agent and a specific water-soluble polymeric compound, and effective to prevent the freezing by forming a transparent protective film having high viscosity to the surface of a solid and keeping the film for a long eriod. CONSTITUTION:(A) An antifreezing agent is mixed with (B) a poly(oxyethylene- oxypropyl) derivative or a propylene oxide derivative or a derivative of propylene oxide and ethylene oxide [e.g. the compound of formula I or formula II (n is 2.5-45; m is 0-15)] or their mixture. The amount of the component A is preferably 150-2,000pts. per 100pts. of the component B.
