PURPOSE:To provide a magnetic head suitable for mass production by the constitution in which a pair of core halves are joined by the crystalline layers formed at plural points including the gap depth end of the butt parts of a pair of the core halves consisting of an amorphous ribbon. CONSTITUTION:Joining of a main core 10 constituted by butting and joining the core halves 11a, 11b formed of the amorphous ribbon is executed by irradiating a laser beam on several points of a butt part 12 while butting pressures F1, F2 are kept exerted to the core halves, 11a, 11b and upper and lower pressures F3, F4 are kept exerted supplementarily thereto in order to match the vertical positions. The butt part 12 of the main core 10 is instantaneously molted spottedly, by which the material thereof is changed from the amorphous to crystalline material. The crystalline layer loses entirely magnetical characteristic and acts virtually as a non-magnetic material and therefore the gap depth is determined by the crystalline layer 16. The gap depth is adjustable by controlling the laser beam spot. |
