PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration of an error rate at recording for a signal with comparatively strong correlation by prolonging sufficiently a repetitive period of a pseudo random signal to eliminate the effect of the pattern effect. CONSTITUTION:A video signal is converted into a recording format taking one vertical scanning period as 32-block via an A/D converter 8 and a time axis compression memory 9, a correction code and a CRC are provided at a parity generator 10 and the result is inputted to a scrambler 11. The scrambled signal is added with synchronizing information by a synchronizing information generator 12 and the result is recorded on a tape 4 via an encoder 13, a recording amplifier 14 and a head 15. The recording information is reproduced by a head 16, clock extraction and pulse detection are executed by a decoder 18 and the result is fed to a descrambler 19 via time axis correcting device 6. In this case, the scrambling having a sufficient repetitive period of te pseudo random signal is executed in order to eliminate the pattern effect. |
