PURPOSE:To attain detailed self-diagnosis and also to attain ease of operation without disabled display by transmitting mutually a self-diagnosis request and information of result of self-diagnosis via an optical communication line and displaying the result of diagnosis onto a display device. CONSTITUTION:The operator allows a portable diagnostic device to access a terminal controller desired to be checked for the result of self-diagnosis, an LED3 and a photo transistor (TR) 4 are opposed respectively to a photo TR16 and an LED15 so as to form the 1st and 2nd optical communication lines. A command is fed to the terminal controller via the 1st optical communication line by turning on a start button in this state. The terminal controller applies prescribed processing according to the transmitted command and outputs the result of self-diagnosis to the portable diagnostic device via the 2nd optical communication line. The portable diagnostic device displays the content of information onto a display device 1. Thus, no connecting apparatus is required and inconvenience caused by a connector is eliminated. |
