PURPOSE:To make it possible to accurately measure an actual molten metal supply amount, by temporarily stopping the pouring of molten metal from a preceding furnace and calculating the supply amount of the molten metal to a refining furnace from the reduction speed of the total wt. of a tundish. CONSTITUTION:At first, the flow amount Qi of the molten metal from a preceding furnace 2 is temporarily stopped to bring the flow amount Qi to zero. In this case, because the molten metal is succeedingly flowed out from the nozzle 7 of a tundish 3, the total wt. W of the tundish 3 is temporarily reduced. Hereupon, when the stop time of the flow amount Qi of the molten metal from the preceding furnace 2 is set to DELTAT and the reduction amount of the total wt. W of the tundish 3 during this time is set to DELTAW, the average flow amount for the time DELTAT is calculated according to a formula Q=DELTAW/DELTAT. That is, the supply amount of the molten metal from the nozzle 7 of the tundish 3 to the refining furnace 5 is accurately calculated.
