PURPOSE:To obtain a long section of solid structure without requiring cutting work by forming two legs by splitting a metallic plate from one side toward another side to halfway and forming the two legs to become symmetric. CONSTITUTION:To split the thickness T of the metallic plate 4 from one side in the direction of width toward another side to halfway, a wedgelike tool 7 is moved from an end in longitudinal direction L of the metallic material 4 toward another end as shown by an arrow. Tow legs 5A, 5B separated in the direction of plate thickness are formed on one side in the direction of width of the metallic plate 4. These warped legs 5A, 5B are bent and formed to become 90 deg. respectively to the direction of width, and a guide rail 6 having T-shaped sectional form is obtained.
