Electrically insulating rail connection, consisting of a metal clip (1) which is connected at the area of its surface facing the rails to an electrically insulating layer which is covered at the point where the surface of the rail connection is in contact with one of the rails with a securely adhering protective sheet of metal whilst those parts of the electrically insulating layer which are located in the region of the rail joint are uncovered. <IMAGE>
