Pyridinecarbinols of the formula I where R1 is hydrogen or alkyl, R2 is alkyl or alkenyl, and R3, R4 and R5 are hydrogen, chlorine, bromine, fluorine or alkyl, plant-physiologically tolerated addition salts of these compounds with acids, and fungicides containing these compounds.
