A flat-bed press constructed in the manner of an edge runner consists essentially of at least two press rolls which are each rotatably mounted on an axle bolt of a roll head joined rotationally solidly to a vertical drive shaft and roll on a horizontal rolling surface on a flat-bed matrix in the form of a circular ring, the running face of each press roll being formed as a frusto-conical shell surface symmetrical to the axle bolt, an extension of the longitudinal axis of the axle bolt passing through the centre of the rolling surface in the form of a circular ring.
