PURPOSE:To provide inexpensively an excrement treating agent capable of gelling and deodorizing the excrements at the same time by adding powdered zeolite to a water absorbing polymer. CONSTITUTION:The water absorbing polymer (sodium polyacrylate) absorbs water etc. by several hundred times its own weight in an instant, and is gelled. But the polymer has scarcely any deodorant function. Zeolite (zeolite rock) is a microporous material consisting essentially of aluminum silicate and having excellent absorbency and ion exchange property due to its molecular structure, and absorbs especially ammonia to a great extent. A mixture of 35wt% absorbing polymer and 65wt% powdered zeolite is preferred from the standpoint of the time for gelation, deodorizing effect, and cost. By discarding into a flush toilet after use, the treating agent is dissolved in water, passing through a sewer smoothly, and causing no trouble such as clogging.
