MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

摘要

PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium having a magnetic layer which has good surface smoothness and small surface electric resistance by incorporating conductive powder contg. at least tin oxide and antimony oxide in the magnetic layer. CONSTITUTION:Conductive powder contg. tin oxide and antimony oxide is incorporated in a magnetic layer. The conductive powder is exemplified by the powder consisting of tin oxide and antimony oxide or titanium oxide on which tin oxide and antimony oxide are deposited to form a conductive film thereon. The conductive powder having <=100OMEGA.cm specific resistance is preferable. The powder having a spherical shape with <=1mu particle size is adequate and if the powder having the particle size larger than said size is used, the surface smoothness is poor and noise is increased. The amt. of the conductive powder to be used is preferably within a range of 0.3-10wt% by the weight of the magnetic powder. The surface electric resistance of the magnetic layer is thus decreased without spoiling the surface smoothness of the magnetic layer.
