PURPOSE:To increase the speed of electric spark machining and to reduce defects due to sticking to a body to be machined by using a Cu alloy wire contg. specified amounts of Zn and Ni as an electrode wire for wire electric spark machining. CONSTITUTION:A Cu alloy wire contg. 20-40wt% Zn and 1.0-4.5wt% Ni is used as an electrode wire for wire electric spark machining. The speed of electric spark machining is considerably increased, sticking to a body to the machined is remarkably reduced, and heat resistance required to cope with a tendency for the electrode wire to become fine is provided. To the Cu alloy may be added 0.5-1.5wt% in total of Al and/or Sn. By the synergistic effect of Zn, Ni and Al and/or Sn, said characteristics can be improved furthermore. |
