PURPOSE:To prepare a gear which is quietly operated, requires no oil and is free from the chipping-off of a tooth chip, by impregnating a reinforcing fiber dispersed in a mold in a compressed state with an uncured resin while curing and molding the resin impregnated fiber. CONSTITUTION:Reinforcing fibers 3 each having a length of 1-150mm. such as carbon fibers dispersed in a mold 1 are parallelly pressed from above by a piston 2 to enhance fiber density and the pressed fibers are impregnated with an uncured resin with low viscosity by a vacuum impregnating method or other methods while the impregnated one is molded to obtain an objective gear. As the reinforcing fiber, a carbon fiber or a silicon carbide fiber high in strength, low in coefficient of friction and having abrasion resistance and self-lubricity is desirably used.
