The energy recovery wall is an outer wall construction, solid, multi-layer, and uses incident solar energy in such a manner that the annual energy balance is positive, even in the month of December with absolute southerly alignment. The annual surplus of passively collected solar energy probably amounts to more than 100 kWh per square metre. The windows of this wall are protected by inner blinds which have no connection to the outside air. They are raised and lowered automatically by dimmer switches.
