PURPOSE:To improve the cycle characteristic of an alkaline zinc secondary battery by using a zinc electrode made by forming a dendrite-preventing layer containing polyacetylene over the surface of a zinc active material layer. CONSTITUTION:A zinc electrode 1 is made by forming a dendrite-preventing layer 3 containing polyacetylene on the surface of a zinc material layer 2. For instance, the zinc active material layer 2 is formed by adding 5-10 parts of polytetrafluoroethylene dispersion liquid to mixture powder consisting of 100 parts zinc oxide and 5 parts mercury oxide before the mixture is diluted with water prior to being kneaded, followed by rolling the kneaded mixture several times to form a zinc active material sheet of given thickness before it is pressed and fixed to both surfaces of a negative current collector plate 4. After that, 2-5 parts of polytetrafluoroethylene dispersion liquid is added to mixture powder consisting of 10 parts polyacetylene powder and 10 parts cadmium oxide before the mixture is diluted with water prior to being kneaded, followed by rolling the kneaded mixture several times to form a sheet before it is pressed and fixed to the surface of the zinc active material layer 2 thereby forming the dendrite-preventing layer 3. |
