PURPOSE:To perform YC separation, by installing a means which discriminates whether it is NTSC or PAL at the horizontal synchronizing signal period, and utilizing the correlation in the vertical direction when it is NTSC, and constituting a filter using a sample point in the horizontal direction when it is PAL. CONSTITUTION:A digital television signals DVS is fed to a horizontal synchronism separating circuit 123 and its horizontal synchronism is detected at a counter circuit 129 for detecting the horizontal synchronizing pulse width, then, outputted as horizontal synchronism detect signals HS and, at the same time, stored in a period memory 144. A discriminate signal DSK is supplied to a YC separating circuit which is not shown in the diagram. The YC separating circuit, when the discriminate signal is NTSC, makes YC separation processing on a filter for utilizing the interrelation in the vertical direction and, when the signal is PAL, makes the separation processing after constituting the filter to a filter which utilizes a sample point in the horizontal direction. Therefore, a television receiver which can be used commonly for NTSC and PAL can be formed. |
