<p>In apparatus for recording data produced by the microscopic examination of cellular material after its reaction with a plurality of reagents positioned in wells (20) on a carrier (18), a microphone (28) is positioned in proximity to the microscope (10) so that the technician may speak the reaction score resulting from the examination into the microphone. A voice recognition circuit (30) is coupled to the microphone to produce an electrical signal indicative of the spoken reaction score. The electrical signal is compared with pre-established signals representing standard data, and data recognized in the comparison are stored by recording and storage means (32), such as a programmable digital computer.
