PURPOSE:To produce a base for lithographic printing plate free from breakage due to being bit during printing, by a method wherein a layer comprising chromium and/or chromium oxide and a layer incorporating a water-soluble salt of calcium or the like and a water-soluble polymer compound are provided on an iron material. CONSTITUTION:A layer comprising substantially chromium and/or chromium oxide is provided on an iron material by, for example, chromium electroplating method, then a layer comprising at least one of water-soluble salts of Ca, Mg, Zn, Ba, Sr, Co, Mn, Ni and silicon and a water-soluble polymer compound (e.g., starch) is provided thereon by, for example, applying a surface-treating liquid obtained by dissolving the objective components in a solvent (e.g., water, methanol), to produce the objective base for lithographic printing plate. EFFECT:Hydrophilic property and adhesion to a photosensitive layer are excellent, and high durability in printing can be obtd. |
