The appliance for cutting out and extracting silage fodder blocks from a silage fodder stock of a flat or movable silo comprises an appliance frame mountable on a working vehicle and having a plane tine fork located near the ground and having a cutting device which possesses a cutting knife oriented approximately perpendicularly to the fork plane, movable up and down and pivotable about a vertical axis. The cutting knife is supported on the outer end of a jib which is mounted on the appliance frame pivotably through approximately 180 DEG and which engages at a distance over the fork plane. The jib consists of an inner arm and an outer arm, of which the outer arm is displaceable parallel to the inner arm in the longitudinal direction of the jib for the purpose of predetermining a cutting path for the cutting knife corresponding approximately to the outer contour of the tine fork. For this, the two jib arms are connected to one another by means of parallel-link cranks and these are synchronously rotatable by means of a gear in dependence on a pivoting movement of the jib. As a drive for the cutting knife there is a train of drive shafts leading from a take-off shaft connecting gear on the appliance frame to the cutting knife and having an intermediate gear which is located in a jib carrier housing mounted rotatably on the appliance frame and which, as a differential gear, at the same time derives from the driving torque for the cutting knife a torque for the jib and which transmits this to the carrier housing of the latter.
