Picking up or easily collecting balls, in particular tennis balls, which are lying around on the ground of a court after the game is permitted by means of a stick like a walking stick, on which two slightly spaced-apart adjacent oval rings are mounted at the lower end perpendicular to the upright part of the stick, with which the balls can easily be picked up without bending the body or using the hands to grip the balls. The oval rings are dimensioned on the inside such that a ball can be forced through the rings counter to the resistance of the ground with a pressure from the hand pressing from above by means of the stick in order thus to convey the balls into the interior of a container, such as a basket or tubular net, connected to the rings, for the purpose of picking up and collecting said balls. The rings form the bottom of the container which is closed on the other four sides so that the balls are enclosed. Situated inside the handle stick is a second stick which takes over the function of a standing support by means of a connected ring and can be retracted and extended as well as fixed for the purpose of removing the balls from an advantageous gripping height.
