In a process for producing toothed belts from flexible plastic with tension inserts, preferably of steel wire, glass fibre or the like or wear-resistant plastic, such as polyamide fibres, having at least one woven fabric layer arranged at least on the serrated side of the toothed belt, the toothed belt is to be provided with the woven fabric layer in a simple way and by simple apparatuses. This object is achieved according to the invention by the woven fabric layer being applied subsequently, after completion of the toothed belt or the toothed-belt roll, at least to the serrated side of the latter by a pressure-applying apparatus acting on the tooth flanks and the tooth base, the woven fabric layer being bonded to the surface of the toothed belt by partial dissolving of the surface of the toothed belt and/or of the woven fabric layer and/or by adding an adhesion agent. <IMAGE>
