PURPOSE:To provide a printer capable of indicating the kind of paper to be set, thereby preventing the operator from a mistake and relieving the operator of labor, by providing at least a means for retrieving a model format corresponding to input data and for discriminating a paper for the format with which to print. CONSTITUTION:In a printer wherein papers for a variety of formats with rules or the like preprinted thereon are prepared and the paper for the format conforming to the input data to be printed is selected and is fed to a printing part 8 to print thereon, a model format is retrieved from a model format file 3 by an input part 2 in accordance with the data inputted through a tablet 1, a paper on which to print the data is simultaneously determined by referring to a paper table 23, and the results are stored in a memory part 24 for the paper discrimination results. When a printing command key is inputted through the tablet 1, a paper indicator 81 reads paper information from the memory part 24 and indicates the information. |
