<p>Title: METHOD OF CALCULATING DAMAGES TO CAR Inventor: HANS GUSTAFSSON : A method of calculating automobile body repair costs, comprising the steps of: (1). breaking down an automobile schematically into external part surface sections; (2). breaking down said external part surface sections into zones of predetermined approximately equal area; (3). defining preselected areas of said external part surface sections in which external damage is most likely to lead to and correspond with internal damage; (4) measuring the depth of the deepest indentation in each said damaged preselected area; (5). calculating the repair cost for each damaged external part surface section having a number of zones in which damage has occurred; and (6) calculating a repair cost for repairing internal damage for each part surface section having a damaged preselected area by multiplying the measured depth of deepest indentation in the damaged preselected area by a predetermined cost factor per depth unit for said part surface section, said predetermined cost factor being determined by correlating preexisting repair cost data for the particular part surface section with depth of the deepest indentation in associated preselected area, and by adding a supplementary cost for supplementary repair measures indicated if a multiplication product of the measured depth of deepest indentation and the associated number of zones in which damage has occurred exceeds a predetermined ceiling value, said ceiling value being determined by correlating preexisting repair data for the particular part surface section with such a multiplication product for that particular part surface section.</p> |
